Biergärten

As soon as temperatures permit, Berliners and tourists are drawn outdoors. And because Berlin is Berlin, it can of course offer lots of wonderful beer gardens. How lucky that the most popular ones are close to the Aletto Hotels. We save you the search and present our top 5 Berlin beer gardens.

Café am Neuen See

One of Berlin's oldest and most famous beer gardens is spacious, lively and pure nature right in the middle of the city. Tables and benches stretch all the way to the shores of the New Lake in the middle of the zoo, and if you want, you can also rent a rowing boat here. The great backdrop by the water is complemented by another special feature: In addition to the large self-service area with Bavarian and Italian delicacies, there are also set tables where you get first-class service. The house specialty is the thin, crispy stone oven pizza — an absolute must!

Schleusenkrug

If you didn't hear the S-Bahn rushing by at regular intervals, you could easily forget in Schleusenkrug that you're in Berlin. As the name suggests, you can watch boats at the lock, sit in the beautiful zoo and when it rains, the umbrellas are opened and awnings extended. The menu is varied and the large grill station is the highlight. The over 60-year-old lock jug is also unique in history: Although it is located in the middle of the former western part of the city, the former comrades from the GDR ensured smooth processes on the water in the basement of the lock system. Because Berlin's waterways had been under GDR administration since the end of the war. As a result, the Berlin Wall at Schleusenkrug ran almost horizontally. At the top, West Berliners enjoyed their cold beer, while at the bottom, East Berlin officials regulated shipping traffic — a place of contrasts.

Zollpackhof

This gastronomic oasis is located right on the banks of the Spree in the middle of the government district and is a successful combination of beer garden, restaurant and lounge terraces. With an impressive view of the Federal Chancellery, you can witness the daily tapping of wooden barrels and enjoy classic Bavarian beer garden cuisine. You can really relax in the shade of the huge, almost 150-year-old horse chestnut tree, while the youngsters can have a great time on the playground belonging to the beer garden.

Tiergartenquelle

More Berlin is not possible! This rustic, spacious pub directly under the S-Bahn has been an absolute institution for decades and is equally popular with future, current and former students. The rustic, hearty food in huge portions contributes significantly to the legendary reputation of the Tiergartenquelle. The associated beer garden — the “beer garden spring” — is almost an insider tip. It is across the street and the food comes straight from the Tiergartenquelle kitchen to the table.

Tea house in the English Garden

Contrary to what the name suggests, it is not tea that is at the center of the action here, but the thatched tea house in the elegant English Garden also includes a real beer garden. Free from any traffic noise, you can quickly relax in this oasis in the urban jungle and relax from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. The variety of dishes is appropriate for the elegant setting and in summer there are even live music events on Sundays with free admission. Have you become curious? If you don't feel like walking to the tea house in the English Garden, you can of course also set off with the BVG. The transport links of the Aletto Hotels are virtually unbeatable.
