The most beautiful neighborhoods in the area
The Kudamm - THE boulevard of the capital
Only about 200 m away from Aletto Kudamm is the eponymous Kurfürstendamm, which is at least as long as it is famous. Boutiques, department stores, specialty shops, restaurants, cafés, bars, cinemas and hotels are packed here for around 3.5 kilometers. It runs from Breitscheidplatz with the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church to Rathenauplatz, behind which the extravagant villa district of Grunewald begins.
Renowned fashion labels as well as international retail chains can be found on Kurfürstendamm, and law firms and medical practices are based on the upper floors of the magnificent buildings. However, the boulevard and its side streets are not only the most popular shopping street in the capital, but also a highly sought after residential district. Live, work, shop and enjoy — full of Berlin.
Pictures, Boules & Beer - The Charlottenburg Castle Road
At 900 meters long and over 70 meters wide, you can stroll straight towards the imposing domed building of the famous Charlottenburg Palace. On both sides, it is lined with well-kept town houses and also some well-known Berlin museums such as the Berggruen Collection or the Bröhan Museum. The wide central strip under the old lime trees belongs to walkers and boule players, who come here as soon as the weather permits.
The natural and relaxed nature of the game exudes French flair, to which the many restaurants and bistros along the street also contribute. Almost all attract visitors with pretty, small beer gardens and are at least as popular with locals as with tourists.
The Lietzenseepark — “built close to water” in its best meaning
The Lietzensee with its beautifully designed lakeside park is truly a Charlottenburg gem and one of the most important local recreation areas for its residents. Small boutiques, shops selling home accessories and antique shops characterize the neighborhood around the lake.
Of course, an interesting gastronomic scene has also settled here, with the Stella boathouse being mentioned in particular. Anyone who has found a seat here sits on a large pontoon directly above the water and has a wonderful view over the entire lake — welcome to paradise.
Savignyplatz - good food, jazz and shopping
Although it is right in the heart of West Berlin's city center, Savignyplatz is a green oasis in the center of the city. The small round park is divided by Kantstraße and is surrounded by original restaurants, cafés and trendy bars. Fans of good food get their money's worth here, as do shoe lovers and jazz enthusiasts. On a side street of Savignyplatz, the A-Trane is one of the world's most legendary jazz clubs with regular live concerts by terrific musicians. The many shops in the S-Bahn arches on the south side of Savignyplatz are also worth seeing. From here, you can also dive into a completely different world...
Nu hǎo Berlin! Little Chinatown on Kantstraße
Anyone who loves Asian food will get their money's worth on Kantstraße. The section between Savignyplatz and Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße in particular is teeming with Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Chinese and Japanese restaurants. From soup kitchens to original Cantonese specialities to stylish, lounge-like Japanese restaurants with club character, there is really something for everyone. And anyone who has never been to an Asian supermarket should definitely catch up on Kantstraße.
